Can I get anticipatory bail if my ex-wife has filed a false dowry case against me?

Anticipatory bail is available in dowry harassment cases, and courts do grant it, including to co-accused family members, especially where the allegations appear general, are made against multiple relatives without specific individual roles, or where there's a clear pattern suggesting the complaint may have been filed out of matrimonial discord rather than genuine harassment.
That said, each case turns heavily on its own specific facts — courts examine the FIR's contents, the timing of the complaint, whether specific incidents and dates are mentioned, and your own conduct and willingness to cooperate with the investigation.
It's important to note that courts also take dowry allegations seriously given the genuine prevalence of the problem, so simply asserting the case is false isn't enough — you'll need your advocate to build a case addressing the specific allegations made against you. Consulting a criminal lawyer promptly, ideally before any arrest attempt, gives you the best chance of securing timely anticipatory bail.
