There is no strict limitation period for reporting an offence under the POCSO Act — given how common it is for child victims to disclose abuse only much later, sometimes as adults, the law doesn't bar prosecution simply because significant time has passed since the incident.

That said, the earlier a complaint is made and investigation begins, the easier it generally is to gather supporting evidence, so if your family member is ready to come forward, doing so sooner rather than later is generally advisable from a practical evidentiary standpoint, even though it's not legally required.
