Interim Compensation (Cheque Bounce)

An amount a court can direct the accused to pay to the complainant during the pendency of a cheque bounce trial, adjustable against the final outcome.

Courts have the power to direct interim compensation of up to a percentage of the cheque amount while the case is still being heard, giving the complainant some relief without having to wait for the case to fully conclude, subject to adjustment based on the final verdict.

If the accused is ultimately acquitted, the complainant can be directed to return this interim amount, with interest.
