Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)
A status granted to certain persons of Indian origin living abroad, giving them lifelong visa-free entry to India and several other rights, short of full citizenship.
OCI status lets eligible foreign nationals of Indian origin enjoy many practical benefits of a connection to India — including property ownership rights (with some exceptions like agricultural land) and simplified travel — without holding Indian citizenship or voting rights.
OCI registration can be cancelled in certain circumstances, such as fraud in obtaining it or a threat to India's sovereignty.
