Startup Recognition (DPIIT)

A formal recognition granted by the government to eligible new-age businesses, unlocking benefits like tax exemptions and easier compliance.

DPIIT-recognised startups can access benefits such as certain income tax exemptions, simpler compliance under labour and environmental laws, and eligibility for government funding schemes — but recognition requires meeting specific criteria around the entity's age, turnover, and innovative nature of its business.

Recognition is not automatic or permanent — it typically applies for a defined window from incorporation and can be reviewed if the criteria are no longer met.
