Vishakha Guidelines
Guidelines laid down by the Supreme Court for preventing sexual harassment at the workplace, later codified into the POSH law.
Before dedicated legislation existed, the Supreme Court laid down binding guidelines requiring workplaces to prevent and redress sexual harassment, which served as the law on the subject until Parliament enacted the specific POSH statute incorporating and expanding on these principles.
The underlying principles from these guidelines continue to inform how courts interpret and apply the current workplace harassment law.
