Conciliation
A dispute resolution process similar to mediation, where a conciliator actively assists the parties in reaching a settlement, sometimes suggesting terms for resolution.
Conciliation is closely related to mediation, though a conciliator often takes a somewhat more active role in proposing possible terms of settlement, compared to a mediator who more purely facilitates the parties' own negotiation.
A settlement reached through conciliation, once signed by the parties, has the same binding status as an arbitral award.
