Legal Notice
A formal written communication sent by a lawyer on a client's behalf, notifying the other party of a grievance and demanding a specific remedy before legal proceedings are initiated.
A legal notice serves as a formal, on-record warning, giving the recipient an opportunity to resolve the matter before litigation begins — and for certain claims, like a cheque bounce case, sending one within a specified time is a mandatory step before a complaint can even be filed.
Failing to respond to a legal notice doesn't itself create liability, but it is often used later as evidence that the sender genuinely attempted to resolve the matter before going to court.
