NDPS Law

NDPS Case

A criminal case registered under narcotics law for the possession, sale, transport, or trafficking of prohibited drugs and psychotropic substances.

Cases under narcotics law cover a wide range of conduct — from possession of a small quantity for personal use to large-scale trafficking — with punishment scaling steeply based on the quantity involved (small, intermediate, or commercial).

Bail in NDPS cases involving commercial quantities is deliberately made harder to obtain than in most other offences, given the additional statutory conditions courts must be satisfied of before granting it.
