Nuisance
An act or condition that unreasonably interferes with another person's use and enjoyment of their property, such as excessive noise or pollution from a neighbouring property.
A person affected by a nuisance can seek an injunction to stop the offending activity and, where applicable, damages for the harm caused — courts weigh whether the interference is substantial and unreasonable, not merely a minor or occasional inconvenience.
Public nuisance, affecting the wider community rather than one individual, can also be addressed through action by public authorities, separate from a private nuisance claim.
