Undivided Share

A co-owner's proportionate interest in jointly held property, which exists across the entire property rather than in any specific physical portion of it.

Until a formal partition takes place, each co-owner's share remains "undivided," meaning they have an interest in the whole property proportionate to their share, rather than exclusive rights over a specific physical section.

A partition — whether by mutual agreement or court order — converts this undivided share into a defined, separately owned physical portion.
