Appeal
A request to a higher court to review and potentially reverse or modify the decision of a lower court.
An appeal allows a party dissatisfied with a court's decision to have it reviewed by a higher forum, typically examining both the facts and the law applied, though the scope of review can be narrower for certain types of appeals (such as a "second appeal," generally limited to substantial questions of law).
Appeals must usually be filed within a specific limitation period from the date of the original order.
