Coparcenary Rights
Rights that members of a Hindu joint family — including daughters, by law — have by birth in ancestral joint family property.
A coparcener has an independent right by birth in the joint family property, distinct from other family members who may only have a right of maintenance out of it. Daughters now have the same coparcenary rights as sons in their father's ancestral property.
Coparcenary rights frequently become central to family property disputes, particularly where a partition of ancestral assets is sought.
