Karta
The senior-most member of a Hindu Undivided Family who manages its property and affairs on behalf of all members.
The karta has significant authority to manage HUF property and enter transactions on the family's behalf, including, in appropriate circumstances of genuine necessity, the power to sell HUF property even without every member's individual consent.
Other family members can, however, challenge a karta's actions if they exceed their authority or aren't genuinely for the family's benefit.
