Grandparents' Visitation Rights
The limited, evolving legal recognition of a grandparent's interest in maintaining contact with a grandchild, particularly after a parent's death or divorce.
Indian law doesn't yet provide grandparents an automatic, standalone statutory right to visitation in the way some other countries do, but courts have, in appropriate cases, recognised and protected such relationships where clearly in the child's best interest.
Such claims are typically raised and considered as part of a broader custody or guardianship proceeding, rather than through a wholly separate dedicated remedy.
