Pocso Act Law

POCSO Case

A criminal case registered under the special law protecting children from sexual assault, harassment, and exploitation.

The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences law creates a specialised framework for offences against anyone below 18 — covering penetrative and non-penetrative sexual assault, harassment, and use of children for pornographic material — with child-friendly procedures for recording testimony and conducting trial.

Such cases are tried before designated Special Courts, with an emphasis on minimising trauma to the child during the process, including in-camera proceedings and support persons.
