Pocso Act Law
Support Person (POCSO)
A person appointed to render assistance to a child throughout the process of a POCSO case, including during recording of statements and trial.
A support person helps the child and their family understand the various stages of the legal process, provides emotional support, and can accompany the child during recording of statements and while giving evidence, easing the ordeal of the proceedings.
Their role is specifically recognised under the rules framed for implementing the child sexual offences law.
