RTI Appeal
A challenge filed when a public authority denies an RTI request, refuses to respond within the required time, or provides an unsatisfactory response.
An applicant dissatisfied with the response (or lack of one) can file a first appeal with a designated senior officer within the same department, and if still unsatisfied, a second appeal with the Information Commission.
The Information Commission has the power to direct disclosure of the requested information and can, in appropriate cases, impose a penalty on the officer responsible for wrongful denial or delay.
