Shared Household
The residence where a woman lives or has lived in a domestic relationship, in which she has a legally protected right to reside regardless of ownership.
A woman facing domestic violence has the right to continue living in the shared household — even if she is not the owner or a named tenant — and cannot be evicted from it except in accordance with a procedure established by law.
Courts can pass a residence order protecting this right, and in appropriate cases direct alternative accommodation or rent to be provided if she cannot safely continue living there.
