Wife's Right to Residence
A wife's legally protected right to continue living in the matrimonial home, regardless of whose name the property is registered in.
Even if the matrimonial home is owned solely by the husband or his family, a wife facing domestic distress has a right to reside there, and cannot be thrown out except through a lawful court process.
Where continuing to live there isn't safe or practical, courts can direct alternative suitable accommodation, or an amount to cover rent, instead.
