RERA Law
Builder-Buyer Agreement
The contract between a developer and a homebuyer setting out the terms of sale for an under-construction or ready property, including price, timeline, and specifications.
This agreement governs the entire relationship between buyer and developer — covering payment schedule, possession date, penalties for delay, and specifications of the unit — and, under RERA, must be in a standardised format that better protects buyers compared to older, developer-favourable agreements.
Carefully reviewing this agreement (or having a lawyer do so) before signing is one of the most important steps in an under-construction property purchase.
