In-Camera Proceedings
Court proceedings conducted privately, closed to the general public and media, typically to protect the identity or dignity of a vulnerable party such as a child or sexual assault victim.
Certain categories of cases — including those involving sexual offences and matters concerning children — are mandated or commonly conducted in camera, restricting who can be present in the courtroom during the hearing.
This protects the privacy and dignity of the victim, while the trial itself still proceeds with the full legal rigour and safeguards of an open trial.
