Legal Aid
Free legal services provided to persons who cannot afford a lawyer, ensuring access to justice regardless of financial means.
Legal Services Authorities at the national, state, and district level provide free legal aid — including a lawyer, court fee waiver, and other support — to eligible categories of persons, such as those below a specified income threshold, women, children, and persons with disabilities.
Every accused person also has a constitutional right to legal representation, and courts are required to provide a legal aid lawyer if the accused cannot afford one.
