Right to Property (Constitutional)
The constitutional protection against being deprived of property except by authority of law, now a legal (rather than fundamental) right in India.
While no longer a Fundamental Right in the strictest sense, the right to property continues to be a significant constitutional and legal right — the state cannot take away a person's property except through a lawful process, generally with compensation where compulsory acquisition is involved.
This distinction matters procedurally, since violations of this right are pursued somewhat differently than a direct Fundamental Rights violation.
