Charge Sheet
The final report police file with the magistrate at the end of investigation, listing the accused, the evidence gathered, and the specific offences alleged.
A charge sheet (formally a "final report") is what the investigating officer submits once an investigation is complete, summarising the evidence collected and naming the accused persons and the sections of law they are alleged to have violated. It is filed with the magistrate having jurisdiction over the case.
Filing a charge sheet doesn't itself amount to a conviction — the magistrate takes cognizance of it, and the trial proper begins from there, with the accused entitled to contest every allegation. Police can also file a "closure report" instead, if investigation turns up no evidence to proceed.
