Codicil
A supplementary document that amends, adds to, or partially revokes an existing will, without needing to rewrite the entire will.
A codicil is used to make a specific change to an already-executed will — such as adding a new beneficiary or altering a particular bequest — and must generally be executed with the same formalities (signature, attestation by witnesses) as the original will.
Where changes are extensive, it is often simpler and cleaner to execute an entirely fresh will rather than layering multiple codicils.
