Dacoity
A specific, aggravated form of robbery committed jointly by five or more persons acting together.
Dacoity is treated as significantly more serious than ordinary robbery precisely because of the coordinated, multi-person nature of the crime, which the law recognises as posing a much greater threat and level of organised violence.
All participants in a dacoity can be held liable for the full offence, even if only some of them directly used force, given the collective nature of the crime.
