Injunction
A court order directing a party to do, or refrain from doing, a specific act, used to prevent harm before or during a legal dispute.
An injunction can be temporary (interim, granted while the case is pending, to preserve the status quo) or permanent (granted as final relief at the end of a trial), and courts weigh factors like a prima facie case, balance of convenience, and irreparable harm before granting an interim one.
Injunctions are commonly sought in property disputes, intellectual property infringement, and to restrain breach of contractual obligations.
