Interlocutory Application

An application filed during the pendency of a case seeking interim relief or a procedural direction, without deciding the final outcome of the suit.

Interlocutory applications cover a wide range of interim requests made while a main case is still ongoing — for temporary injunctions, appointment of a receiver, discovery of documents, or amendment of pleadings, among others.

Orders on interlocutory applications can sometimes be appealed separately, even though the main suit itself is still pending.
