Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW)
A warrant requiring the person to be produced before the court in custody, with bail decided only by the court itself.
A non-bailable warrant is a stronger form of warrant — the arrested person cannot be released by the police on the spot and must be produced before the issuing court, which then decides whether and on what terms to grant bail.
Courts typically resort to an NBW when a person has repeatedly ignored summonses or a bailable warrant, or where the nature of the case makes it necessary to ensure the person is actually brought before the court.
