Police Custody
Custody where an arrested person is held directly by the investigating police, typically for a short period to allow interrogation.
Police custody lets investigators question an arrested person directly, and is granted by a magistrate for a limited number of days at the start of an investigation, when custodial interrogation is considered necessary to the case.
Once that period lapses, the accused is typically moved to judicial custody, and the police must seek the court's specific permission for any further access.
