Rent Receipt
A written acknowledgment issued by a landlord confirming receipt of rent from a tenant, serving as proof of payment.
Rent receipts are useful evidence in the event of a later dispute over whether and how much rent was actually paid, and are also commonly required by tenants for claiming house rent allowance tax exemptions.
Landlords are generally expected to issue receipts promptly on receiving rent, and a pattern of properly documented payments can help a tenant defend against a false claim of non-payment.
