Testamentary Capacity
The legal and mental capacity a person must have to make a valid will, including being of sound mind and understanding the nature of the act.
A will can be challenged if it's shown the person making it lacked the mental capacity to understand what they were doing, the extent of their property, or the persons who would naturally expect to benefit — this is a common ground raised in will disputes among family members.
Medical evidence and witness testimony about the testator's mental state at the time of execution often become central in such disputes.
