Theft
The offence of dishonestly taking movable property out of another person's possession, without their consent, intending to permanently deprive them of it.
Theft specifically requires the property to be movable, taken without the owner's consent, and with dishonest intent — distinguishing it from criminal breach of trust, which involves property the accused was originally lawfully entrusted with.
Aggravated forms, such as theft in a dwelling house or theft by a servant, attract enhanced punishment given the additional breach of trust or security involved.
