Alimony Modification
A subsequent court application to increase, decrease, or terminate a previously ordered maintenance amount, based on a genuine change in circumstances.
Either party can approach the court to modify an existing maintenance order where there's been a material change — such as a significant change in income, the recipient's remarriage, or a change in the paying spouse's financial capacity.
The party seeking modification generally has to establish the changed circumstances are genuine and substantial enough to justify revisiting the original order.
