Consumer Complaint
A complaint filed by a consumer before a Consumer Commission alleging a defect in goods, deficiency in service, or unfair trade practice by a seller or service provider.
Consumer forums (now called Consumer Commissions) offer a comparatively quicker, less formal, and less expensive way for consumers to seek redress — such as a refund, replacement, or compensation — compared to a regular civil suit.
Depending on the value of the claim, a complaint is filed at the district, state, or national level commission, and consumers can generally represent themselves without necessarily hiring a lawyer.
