Interim Maintenance
Maintenance ordered by the court to support a spouse (and children) while a matrimonial case is still pending, before final judgment.
Because matrimonial cases can take time to resolve, courts can order interim maintenance to ensure the dependent spouse and children are not left without financial support while the main case is being heard.
The amount is typically assessed on affidavits of income and expenses filed by both sides, and can be revised once the final decision or fuller evidence is available.
