No Objection Certificate (NOC)
A document issued by a relevant authority or society confirming they have no objection to a specific transaction, such as a property sale or construction.
An NOC is commonly required at various stages of a property transaction — from a housing society for transfer of a flat, from a bank if the property is mortgaged, or from municipal authorities for certain kinds of construction or use.
Missing or delayed NOCs are a frequent cause of delay in closing property transactions, so buyers and sellers typically confirm which NOCs are needed well before the planned transaction date.
