Registered Post / Legal Service

A method of formally delivering legal documents, such as a legal notice or court summons, with proof of dispatch and, often, proof of delivery.

Courts and lawyers rely on modes like registered post or speed post with acknowledgment due precisely to create a reliable record of when and whether a document was actually delivered, which can matter significantly in disputes over whether proper notice was given.

Alternative modes of service, including courier and, increasingly, electronic means, are also recognised in many contexts, particularly where physical service proves difficult.
