Section 24 Application
A common shorthand for an application seeking interim maintenance and litigation expenses during the pendency of a matrimonial case, under Hindu marriage law.
This application lets the financially weaker spouse seek support for both personal maintenance and to fund the legal costs of contesting the case, ensuring the imbalance in resources between spouses doesn't itself prevent a fair contest.
Courts assess the respective incomes and needs of both spouses in deciding the amount to be awarded under such an application.
