Unfair Trade Practice
A deceptive or misleading practice adopted by a trader or service provider to promote the sale of goods or services, such as false advertising.
Unfair trade practices include making false or misleading claims about a product's quality, giving false guarantees, or engaging in bait-and-switch selling tactics — consumer law allows affected buyers to seek redress against such conduct, in addition to any direct product or service complaint.
Regulatory authorities can also independently act against businesses engaging in unfair trade practices, beyond individual consumer complaints.
