Warranty (Product)
A promise or assurance by a seller or manufacturer about the quality, performance, or condition of goods, which the buyer can enforce if it turns out to be untrue.
A warranty gives the buyer a specific remedy — repair, replacement, or refund — if the product doesn't match what was promised, and can be express (explicitly stated) or implied (arising automatically by operation of law, such as goods being reasonably fit for their intended purpose).
Breach of warranty is a common and relatively straightforward basis for a consumer complaint, particularly for defective electronic goods and appliances.
